Abstract:
The series of the archives of the Holy See (Vatican Archives, Archives of Propaganda Fide, etc.)documents the history of Central-Eastern Europeans (Poles, Ruthenians, Hungarians, Czechs and Slovaks) migrating to the U.S. at the end of the 19th Century. These documents tell us a lot about the invention of a specific ethnic tradition and the struggle to survive in North America, while helping people at home.
