Issue Date: 2023
Abstract:
Tyrrhenikai salpinges. Again on musical instruments
and representation of power in Etruria · One of the most
peculiar aspects of the use of music in Etruscan society is,
as is well known, the close relationship existing between
the representation of political power and two musical
instruments, the cornu and the lituus. This article investigates
this connection through the available iconographic,
literary, epigraphic and archaeological documentation,
attempting to take stock of a complex matter, straddling
historical reality and symbolic representation.
