Title: | The collapse of the border fortress system against the Ottoman Empire between 1521 and 1527 | Authors: | Valentin Cseh | Journal: | EASTERN EUROPEAN HISTORY REVIEW | Issue Date: | 2022 | Abstract: | 1521 became a turning point in the history of the border fortress system against the Ottoman Empire, as in the history of Hungary, although this is obscured by the battle of Mohács, but all the catastrophe that took place between 1521 and 1541 could be traced back to the loss of Nándorfehérvár (Beograd) and Szabács (Šabac). In my study I want to present the period of the collapse of the Hungarian border fortress system between 1521 and 1527, from the siege of Nándorfehérvár in 1521 to the fall of Jajca (Jajce) in 1527. |
