Abstract:
In the Latium, the cult of Anna Perenna, divinity connected to flowing waters, is attested by literary sources in
Lavinium (the current Pratica di Mare), Rome, Boville. In Lavinium, this cult is connected with the Numico, a watercourse that most of the Authors tend to identify with the current Fosso di Pratica. The close relationship between the cult of Anna Perenna and that of Minerva, whose existence in Lavinio is archaeologically proven, has led to verify if the “fanum” of Anna Perenna, placed in the historical cartography along the Corso del Numico, near the next Casale della Petronella or Santa Petronella, (church of Santa Petronilla), could be connected to this cult. The data from historical and archaeological sources have been associated (in the GIS environment) with those deriving from the analysis of the historical cartography and from the geological and hydrogeological characteristics of the site, which must necessarily be compatible with the presence of a disappeared source
