Title: Per una storia dei più antichi rimari romanzi
Authors: Santini, Giovanna
Journal: Atti del XXVIII Congresso internazionale di linguistica e filologia romanza
Issue Date: 2018
Abstract:
As far as it is possible to know, the oldest rhyming dictionary in a Romance language is the one contained in the Donatz proensals; other remainders are compiled at the end of the 14th century in the context of the Consistori de la Gaya ciencia of Barcelona, inspired by that of Toulouse. It is evident that over time the structures, forms and lexical materials of these texts evolve, but in some way they retain a coherence and an overall autonomy, which tends towards a specialization. There are therefore various aspects that must be studied in depth: in particular a relevant question to be clarified is the one concerning the relationship of these rhyming dictionaries with the practical aspects of making poetry and with the poetic tradition. On the other hand, for an understanding of the phenomenon as a whole, it appears essential to reconstruct the path which defines a specific and autonomous tradition of the genre with respect to grammatical and rhetorical treatises.
