Abstract
The methodology of gender violence research has some specificities related to the complexity of the subject of study and the lack of structural data on the phenomenon, as well as the problems of gathering information on the representation of the cultural context of action which is described by the media and in the courts. The article examines the recent history, the present situation and the prospects of the issue in Italy, considering with particular attention the forms of theoretical framework, research techniques and variables concerning social categories
