Abstract
This essay explores seriality as the defining logic of contemporary media experience. Introducing the concept of smarginatura—the dissolution of boundaries—it argues that in today’s hybrid, transmedial, and platformized ecosystem, seriality functions not only as a narrative device but as a structural principle shaping production, consumption, and perception. Through fragmentation, remediation, and recombination, seriality organizes the contemporary media system as a dynamic interplay of repetition and variation.
