Abstract
The current use of heavy agronomic inputs to increase crop yields is responsible for the weakening of the agroecosystem stability. The main damage is the loss of the structural integrity of the system, such as the reduced capacity to provide various ecosystem services, i.e. nutrient cycling and soil fertility. Sustainable practices are proposed as a possible solution to reduce environmental impact, while maintaining the production and quality levels of crops. The aim of this study was to evaluate how the use of fertilizer sources and crop protection products can compete with the conventional ones. To achieve this goal, the use of different crop protection products and their interaction with different fertilization source was tested on processing tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) crop under field conditions.
