Abstract
In the last two decades, Taxus baccata was the subject of numerous studies that have focused on chemical and biochemical aspects, also because of the notoriety paclitaxel (a brest-cancer antitumoral). This sudden interest in a plant that has long been scientifically neglected, allowed to focus attention to a research area on which there is still much to discover. Among the many studies on the yew, is only mentioned the study of fundamental aspects such as dendrological and dendrometric. Even less interesting, appears to be the study of his sexual expression. Was necessary to make these premises, in order to explain why such a simple methodological approach as what follows will be exposed, is in fact new in the study of Taxus baccata. In this study, we pay attention to the structural differences between the sexes, sexual expression and the influence of the environment on the sex change in T. Baccata. The choice of the study sites has been essential to highlight the differences between populations, in particular those ones ecological (the stands are located in several places of Italian peninsula and in Sardinia island). The study concludes with a proposed of a original model to explain the sexual expression in yew .
