Abstract
This thesis was worked out with the aim of analysing the crime existent in Victorian London where the English author Charles Dickens lived in the 19th century. To reach this goal I examined a short selection of detective articles published in the newspapers founded by Dickens: Household Words (1850-1859) and All The Year Round (1859-1895). I selected four articles full of references to the criminal figures present in London in the 19th century and to precise places of the city which were often related to criminal life as Newgate Prison or The Old Bailey Court.
