Abstract
The article sets out to mark the story of the Open Access Movement, explaining meaning and motivations, with a special attention to the Italian situation. It illustrates the procedures to give free access, through Internet, to the results of the scientific research: open institutional archives, disciplinary archives and open access journals, with reference to the most used open source softwares. The article highlights the obstacles found such as the problems about copyright, that have given birth to the concept of copyleft and to the creation and use of Ccpl-Creative Commons Public Licenses. It particularly attempts to emphasize the deep cultural change that follows such Movement.
