Abstract
The paper analyses the permanent exhibition of the Museo nazionale dell’emigrazione italiana (Mei) in Genoa through the themes of the film Interdit aux chiens et aux italiens by the French director Alain Ughetto. This comparison has been suggested by the temporary exhibition Vietato ai cani e agli italiani held at Genoese museum on the occasion of the film’s release in Italy. The comparative perspective adopted offers an overall reading of the Mei, pointing out some general questions related to the musealization of the history of migrations.
