Abstract
The seal-impressed jar B-35-7-41, found in the 5th Dynasty’s tomb G 2370 B at Giza, is part of a large inventory of Levantine Combed Ware jars imported to Egypt during the Old Kingdom, testifying to the Egyptian interest in Levantine products. This vessel represents a noteworthy case study, both for the researches on the practice of impressing seals on vessels and for those centred on the Combed Ware phenomenon. Even though no definitive assessment can be made on its provenience, the various hypotheses, as well as its meaning in the frame of the Egyptian- Levantine contacts, are here revisited in the light of the recent proposals on absolute chronologies, which have effect on the synchronization between the Levantine and Egyptian sequences for the 4th and the 3rd millennium BC.
