Abstract
Food poverty remains a critical issue in assessing economic and social inequalities, particularly in the context of access to nutritionally adequate and sustainable diets. This paper presents a methodology for defining and quantifying the cost of a healthy and sustainable diet, leveraging scientific dietary guidelines and price data analysis. The dietary plans were developed based on systematic reviews and meta-analyses associating food consumption with chronic disease risk, while cost estimation was conducted using web-scraped price data from the Italian Osservatorio Prezzi e Tariffe. The study provides insights into the affordability of recommended diets across different population groups, contributing to policy discussions on food security and economic accessibility.
