Abstract
The activities carried out in the dissertation is submitted within the research project "UNIfHY" financed by the EU and in cooperation with other research institutions and universities (French, German and Dutch). In detail, covered in particular the design and implementation of a pilot gasifier in fluidized-bed doubles, with steam as gasifying, because this configuration enables a high concentration of combustible gases (H2, CH4, CO) and then a syngas to high calorific value (having also double value, compared to air gasification as gasifying). It was obtained a report S/B fairly constant to perform the tests with a certain rigour and performance so as to be able to get, as reported in Chapter 5, the average values of the composition of the syngas to 25.81% of H2, 20.14% of CO, 21.26% of CO2 and 10.72% of CH4, for gasification of T 770° C. For the moment it was decided to use for pairing a cogenerator already owned by the University. It is a cogenerator
produced by Fiat named TOTEM that has been restored and put back into operation after appropriate modifications and improvements. TOTEM stands for Total Energy Module is the first example of a cogenerator designed in Italy in 1973 by Ing. Mario Palazzetti, at the Fiat Research Centre and developed in Fiat Auto from the Totem Project directed by Dr. f. Dal Bo, under the technical direction of ing. Francesco Paolo Ausiello. Using the engine FIAT 100 GL (903 CC) engine, modified to operate on gas or biogas. The motor drives a 15 kW alternator that supplies electricity to users.
