Abstract
It had come to the point of a new method of producing adults and the larval instars stage of B. oleae. The diet for the adults consists of a solution of water and honey administered through a special food developed. Concerning the production of the larvae it’s used fruits which had not been previously treated, isolated with straw and a sleeve of tulle. This resulted in healthy olives well above the period of the natural ripening process. The fruits harvested about every ten days, transferred in thermo-conditioned environment turned out well: suitable both for ovipositing (egg laying) and for the subsequent development of the larvae. In the period from October 2005 to January 2007 13 generations were obtained. This method, in laboratory conditions, allowed to verify the effect of copper oxychloride about the deterrence to eggs layng. The copper oxychloride has not introduced meaningful effects towards the mortality of different stages of development of olive fly. Also the experiments in the fields using copper oxychloride and Spinosad, years 2007 and 2008, showed this to be a clear, effective deterrent to the adults and consequently to egg laying. It is to be hoped the use of copper oxychloride and Spinosad in organic systems of agriculture, especially in olive-growing areas exposed to medium-low risk of infestation of olive fly infestation.
