Abstract
Due to the religious and linguistic implications they entail, the so-called pocola deorum are universally considered one of the most significant testimonies of the initial phase of the Romanisation of the Italian peninsula, both in the areas involved in the deduction of the first colonies and in areas that entertained intense relations with Rome, but not yet politically structured, as is the case of some of the major Etruscan cities. The presentation of a new specimen from tomb 168 at Monte Abatone is an opportunity to take stock of the situation and reflect on the many questions still open regarding the production sites and function of these special vases
