Abstract
The author takes into account the seemingly anomalous syntactic constructions of pseudo-paratactical nature "going to town, and he saw...". He examines several occurrences of such constructions in the older stages of Slavic linguistic history (but also in later periods) and asserts that they were typical for narrative and epic style.
