Abstract
Il lavoro si avvia con la ricostruzione del panorama espositivo degli anni ’50, dal quale emergono due filoni espositivi di particolare interesse: le mostre di opere restaurate e di affreschi staccati.
Affermatesi nei primi anni del secondo dopoguerra come conseguenza dei danni causati dal conflitto al patrimonio artistico e della successiva impresa di salvataggio e restauro dei beni, i due gruppi interessano l’intero arco cronologico considerato e gran parte del territorio italiano, rispondendo agli intenti autocelebrativi delle soprintendenze e all’entusiasmo del pubblico.
Le due tipologie di mostre sono oggetto di un approfondimento che offre i risultati di un lavoro di ricognizione, finalizzato alla raccolta di dati sul numero delle esposizioni e sulle loro modalità di svolgimento, e l’analisi dei temi critici più rilevanti tra quelli emersi dallo studio delle mostre, sia in relazione al restauro che agli sviluppi della museografia e della didattica museale.
L’elaborato si conclude con una panoramica dei primi anni ’70: nel clima di contestazione e di dibattito sulla massificazione dei consumi e della fruizione culturale e sulle politiche di gestione del patrimonio, si cerca di individuare il ruolo delle mostre temporanee nel rapporto del museo con il pubblico, e del pubblico con i temi della produzione tecnica dell’opera d’arte e del restauro.
The work begins with a reconstruction of the exhibition scene in the 1950s, from which two types of exhibitions of great interest emerge: exhibitions of restored works and detached frescoes.
These exhibitions spread after the Second World War as a consequence of the damage caused to the artistic heritage by the war and of the subsequent rescue and restoration of works of art. They cover the entire period considered and a large part of Italy, responding to the self-celebratory intentions of the superintendencies and the enthusiasm of the public.
The two types of exhibitions are the subject of an in-depth study that offers the results of reconnaissance work, aimed at collecting data on the number of exhibitions and how they were held, and the analysis of the most relevant critical themes among those that emerged from the study of exhibitions, both in relation to restoration and to developments in museography and museum education.
The work concludes with an overview of the early 1970s: in the climate of contestation and debate on the massification of consumption and cultural fruition and on heritage management policies, an attempt is made to identify the role of temporary exhibitions in the relationship of the museum with the public, and of the public with the themes of the technical production of works of art and restoration.
