Abstract
The research project placed in a scenario where there are servers of geographic data and WebGIS subsystem composed of a server and a client subsystem, the latter achieved by application of GIS type-Online. The data server can be grouped according to the interface access offer: "server owners" and "server OpenGIS" (Web Map Services, Web Coverage Services and Web Feature Services). A WebGIS system must allow both the vision, access and integration of geographic data made available by the two types of servers, such data are heterogeneous as characterized by encoding format, reference system and distinct type. Why are permitted multi-disciplinary activity, the system must ensure interoperability on geographical data integrated. The thesis work focused on the design and implementation of a software infrastructure server side able to access and integrate heterogeneous geographic data from different types of data sources, local and remote. On geographical data integrated infrastructure provides functional interoperability and provides a set of typical operations of GIS systems for use in the area of geographic analysis. In particular, the research project proposes a technology infrastructure that provides a method, with WebGIS tools (hardware / software and web services), heterogeneous datasource and environmental indicators obtained through in-situ monitoring to assess the self-purifying capacity of the riverine vegetation of two streams (Lama S. Giorgio and Channel Asso) typical of semi-arid climate of Puglia. Such an architecture provides a horizontal approach with an innovative tool for environmental assessments and in this case for "the evaluation of the self-depuration capacity of the riverine vegetation".
