Abstract
This chapter focuses on the online exhibitions dedicated to preserving and showcasing heri-tage from conflict contexts and presents them as as a digital repositories rooted in the inter-section of academicresearch and archival insti-tutions’ work. Acknowledging the broader context for online exhibition’s momentum in the realm of digital humanities, the chapter reveals various functions of these environ-ments, ranging from tools for disseminating knowledge, fostering media literacy, and engaging with public history. By analyzing the broader landscape, the authors uncover the intricate dynamics between academia, archival efforts, and the globally communicat-ing digital medium, offering insights into the exhibition heritage from conflict-ridden periods. The chapter summarizes the charac-teristics of key such platforms in the field of film and television heritage and focuses on a specific case study, the online exhibition “Frames of Reconstruction,” which the authors admittedly contributed to.
Both the chapter in general, and the case study in particular, exemplify how online exhi-bitions have become powerful tools to address conflict legacies, offering an interface for curated film heritage that engages with audi-ences globally and sparks meaningful dis-course on the reconstruction process after wartime devastation.
