Abstract
The celebration of Christina of Sweden’s arrival in Rome is part of an extraordinary media initiative. Images and texts tell of the splendor of the queen who renounces the throne of the greatest Lutheran power to become Catholic.
Having built the image of a virile queen for decades, after her abdication, Cristina still projects herself into public space and, well ahead of her time, builds a self-image that crosses all gender boundaries.
