Abstract
The aim of this work is to propose a typology of Italian pragmatic phrasemes, i.e. phrasemes such as buona giornata, alla prossima, che ci vuole?, volevo ben dire, se non erro, whose main feature is to have discursive and communicative rather than lexico-semantic functions. These expressions are very heterogeneous both structurally and functionally, which makes their classification particularly complex. The proposal I am presenting follows the tradition of sociolinguistic and pragmalinguistic studies in outlining a functional typology, based on the distinction of three macro-functions: the expressive one, relating to the expression of emotions and feelings; the discursive one, relating to the organisation and management of speech/text; the social one, relating to the management of social relations. Three classes and some subclasses of pragmatic phrasemes can be traced back to these functions, of which I will provide a description on the basis of a dataset compiled from dictionaries and corpora.
