Abstract
The idea to start a work on the evaluation of the performance of innovation came analysing
the actual evaluation procedures on the ranking of innovation. There is no method and
works are widely based on individual opinions of the different participants in the evaluation
commissions. Basing on that it appeared important to start defining a new method for an
independent and realistic identification and evaluation of the innovation. The method is able
to identify any change in the state of the art produced by a new technology or by an important
improvement offering stakeholders clear benefits. It is based on independent indexes with no
influence by personal opinions. An example taking into consideration the agitator inside the
sprayer’s tank offers a clear view of performances improvement by the introduction of
innovation. An index has been developed basing on the average technological progress.
