Abstract
My research is based on Cristina of Sweden’ figure (Stockolm 1626-Rome 1689) and in particolar on her travel towards Rome, after leaving Sweden. The principal source of my work is the personal diary of the “concistoriale” lawyer Carlo Cartari (1614-1697), which archives are riches of numerous testimonies of the time. Cartari was interested in historic events and Roman, Italian and European news, describing in particolar the great public personalities. Cartari’s archives con be devided in 3 parts: the first public, the second private, and the third is a fusion between the first and the second part. From the last one there are the 32 volumes of “Effemeridi” written by Cartari during his life and actually preserved in Fondo Cartari- Febei at the Archivio di Stato di Roma. In these volumes I found the information sto write my research on the Sweden Queen through a careful bibliography of her life and a particolar description about the events which caracterized the stages of the period esamined:her throne’s abdication, her catholic conversion and her travel up to Rome.
