Abstract
Bio-energy and biomass system is a new scientific field, very interesting, where you can find new available information, but there is also place for other novelty. A lot of projects and experiences regarding to this, leads to the credence that forest biomass assume a fundamental role, inasmuch they constitute a renewable resource, already or easily present, in the environment. This has been the principal reason that has permitted to undertake this study .Fast growth species cultivated with brief rotations or short rotation forestry, abandoned areas ripped off agriculture and marginal terrains, that can be fated to this new cultivation typology has been the objects of the study. This includes specific cultivating methods for biomass generation, characterized by short turns (2-5 years), high density plantation and elevated productivity, combined this to a high level of mechanization for the implantation and harvesting. Height and diameter growth analyses of the plants revealed a good growth continuation, even in abandoned drought terrains like in Summer 2007. It can be underlined the first year growth for Ailantus altissima of 28,8 cm in height and 0,50 cm in diameter. For the Paulownia tomentosa has been verified values of 49,5 cm in height and 0,92 cm in diameter, and for Robinia pseudoacacia 0,59 cm in diameter and 84,6 cm in height for the plants situated in Azienda Agraria della Tuscia where the terrain conditions were better then in Monte Romano whrere the verified growth values has been 0,51 cm for the diameter and 54 cm for the height. Other dendrometic and xyloenergetic analyses has been developed in a company that cultivates poplar (Monviso clone) and locust-tree always in brief rotation turns. Dates about density , basic density, bark and humidity percentage, chipped material, calorific power etch. has been determined. The locust-tree density has resulted to be 750 kg/m3 and it diminishes passing from the base of the plant to the top; the same happens to the basic density. The density results to be 882 kg/m3 for the poplar planted in single rows, and 767 kg/m3 for the poplar planted in double ones. This value like the value of basic density, differently from locust-tree, increases passing from the base to the top of the plant. The calorific power for both species is higher in the wood then in the bark.
