Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to verify the impact of organic agriculture policy in the context of a territory particularly vocated to both conventional and organic agriculture.
The empirical analysis is divided in three chapters, which focus on three different aspects of organic agriculture in the province of Viterbo. Firstly, the dimension of the sector, considering the certificated area as well as the sustained area, has been calculated. Then, a reconstruction of crop distribution, with the purpose of understanding if subsidies for organic agriculture might determine farmer’s choices, has been carried out. Finally, since agro-biodiversity is considered one of the objectives of agro-environmental policies and one of the main signs of environmental quality, the relation between organic agriculture and agro-biodiversity has been investigated.
