Abstract
This contribution reconsiders the available data on the Middle Bronze Age at Arslantepe and provides an updated general picture of the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC, a crucial moment for the Upper Euphrates region. An initial summary of Arslantepe’s Middle Bronze Age was published in 1998. New excavations have allowed to further increase our knowledge, but the general overview of settlements in the 2nd millennium BC is still very fragmented. The article tries to combine the new additional information obtained both at Arslantepe and in the surrounding area, thanks to the survey project carried out in the Malatya Plain.
