Abstract
Result of a vocational training, commissioned by the Tuscany Region in 2005, the purpose of this text is to talk about the "rediscovery" of Monsignor Giovanni Vignoli (1667-1733), librarian at the Vatican Library for a long time.
This research began with the analysis and study of Vignoli’s pieces of paper kept in Pitigliano, and culminated in the drafting of his biography. From a structural point of view, this study - a successful outcome of a work of reading, filing, copying and digitalization of documents - is divided into two major sections: the first introduces the place, Pitigliano, the Archive and Library, then Vignoli, his background, the places in which he moved, the people we came in contact with him. The second part takes us through the steps of working on documents and, after the index stock, shows the papers. This study ends with a selection of photographs of some cards, with the bibliography and index of names.
