Abstract
In the present work, we observe the factors used by SME decision-makers when choosing a SaaS product deployed in the public cloud. The Potential Adoption Index is presented as the result of the evaluation of identified attributes characteristic of benefits and concerns elements regarding the technical capacity of the analyzed product and its importance in the specific business context. Conclusions:
• In choosing a SaaS program the functional aspects are preliminary and essential to the risk elements and benefits inherent in the Cloud technology;
• In the analyzed cases, it was observed that the free test (Trialability) has allowed the functionalities verification of the program, as well as the maturation of the intention to use it;
• It has been observed that managers do not have specific knowledge or time to deepen the risk / benefit analysis in the context of cloud computing, and that is why an evaluative
model has been proposed in order to highlight specific areas of interest related to risks and benefits of SaaS program adoption;
• The proposed evaluative model is based on a double evaluation where each identified and evaluable characteristic attribute is determined by its importance under the business profile and by its ability to solve the technical problem in comparison with other available products / services;
• The result of the model has allowed to identify the Potential Adoption Index that includes the business component and the technical component highlighting imbalances and objectively identified risks.
