Abstract
In this paper the author takes into account Capek's work "R.U.R." from the viewpoint of SF history. After a brief sketch of the story and the
characters in "R.U.R", attention is paid mainly to such religious themes as primitive innocence or Promethean challenge and to the history of
robots in further SF literature, namely in Dick's and Lem's works. The main core of the robot's theme is seen in the question of human identity.
