Successo del viaggio d'Enrico III re di Francia e di Polonia di Nicolò Lucangeli

Abstract

Questo lavoro tratta della fuga del re di Polonia Enrico di Valois per raggiungere la Francia alla morte del fratello Carlo IX di cui sarebbe stato successore così come stabilito dalla madre, allora reggente al trono, Caterina deʼ Medici. La fuga rocambolesca del re viene narrata dallo scrittore Niccolò Lucangeli che ci narra il passaggio del re stesso a Vienna e soprattutto in varie città italiane fra cui spicca Venezia per i suoi festeggiamenti in onore di Enrico. Una cronaca dettagliata utile anche a rilevare gli atteggiamenti politici della Serenissima nei confronti della cattolicissima Francia nonchè alle modalità di festeggiamento adottate nelle città italiane nel Rinascimento. This work deals with the escape of the King of Poland Henry of Valois France in order to reach at the death of his brother Charles IX, whose he was the successor as established by their mother, then regent to the throne, Catherine de 'Medici. The daring escape of the king is narrated by the writer Nicholas Lucangeli that tells us the passage of the king himself in Vienna and especially in several Italian cities including Venice and its celebrations in honor of Henry. A detailed chronicle also useful to detect the political attitudes of the Venetian Republic towards the catholic France and the way to prepare celebrations in the Italian Renaissance cities.
