| Abstract: | The paper provides an overview of some among the tools of the new web, from the point of view of research work in the humanities. The first part of the paper deals with the cycle of research and how the digital revolution affects it; the second part deals with web 2.0, proposing a six-points outline of the main features of the new web; the third part deals with wikipedia, considered as an example of collaborative writing and collaborative filtering; the fourth part briefly summarizes what open archives are and how they work.
