Ginosa: Contrade, strade e piazze di un paese antico

Abstract

In una ricerca destinata alla didattica nelle scuole superiori viene ricostruita una fotografia della comunità di Ginosa, paese dalle origini magno-greche e latine a cavallo tra la Puglia e la Basilicata, così come si presentava ai suoi abitanti tra Settecento e Ottocento, utilizzando i censimenti degli stati delle anime, conservati nel locale archivio parrocchiale, e integrandoli con altra documentazione d'archivio, il materiale storiografico locale e la memoria popolare, riuscendo a ricostruire la toponomastica delle strade e dei quartieri della cittadina, recuperando una memoria da tempo perduta.

Written for the secondary school, this book gives a shoot upon Ginosa, Italy, the ancient Greek and Roman town between Apulia and Basilicata, during the XVIII and XIX century, made exploring the families’ census in the Town Parish records, linking them with the history of this rural community, rebuilt through the documents and the popular traditions on the town, and restoring its city map, with its streets and its quarters whose memory was lost this day.
