Title: Čapek e gli altri: un po' di storia dei robot nel XX secolo Authors: Caldarelli, Raffaele Abstract: In this paper the author takes into account Capek's work "R.U.R." from the viewpoint of SF history. After a brief sketch of the story and the characters in "R.U.R", attention is paid mainly to such religious themes as primitive innocence or Promethean challenge and to the history of robots in further SF literature, namely in Dick's and Lem's works. The main core of the robot's theme is seen in the question of human identity.; L'autore prende in considerazione il lavoro di Čapek "R.U.R." dal punto di vista della storia della letteratura di fantascienza. Dopo aver delineato brevemente la trama e i tratti salienti dei personaggi principali, esamina con particolare attenzione alcuni motivi a sfondo religioso (la sfida prometeica, l'innocenza edenica) alla base dell'invenzione capkiana. Title: I prestiti greci nel Paterik Alfabetico antico-slavo Authors: Caldarelli, Raffaele Abstract: In questo contributo l'autore cerca di delineare un quadro dei prestiti greci nel Paterík Alfabetico antico slavo ecclesiastico, una raccolta di vite e detti dei padri del deserto tradotta appunto dal greco. La percentuale di grecismi è inferiore rispetto ad opere consimili come il Sinajskij Paterík o il Rimskij Paterík. In ogni caso non sembra possibile parlare di una revisione sistematica volta ad eliminare per quanto possibile i grecismi, secondo i moduli della Scuola di Preslav. L'autore prende poi in considerazione i diversi ambiti semantici del lessico, alcuni dei quali presentano rispetto al problema in esame delle interessanti specificità.; In this paper the author tries to sketch a picture of the Greek loan-words in OCS Alphabetic Paterík. Their rate is inferior in comparison with other hagiographical works like Sinajskij Paterík or Rimskij Paterík. Anyway, one could not assert that AP was subjected to a thorough lexical revision in the way of Preslav School, aiming to a systematic elimination of Greek loan-words.

Title: Il mistero del birbante: una questioncella mickiewicziana Authors: Caldarelli, Raffaele Abstract: Nel Pan Tadeusz di Mickiewicz uno dei personaggi, il Conte (uomo di autentico coraggio, ma portato all'ostentazione e alle vanterie) ama particolarmente ricordare una delle sue imprese, la conquista, da lui compiuta personalmente, col solo aiuto di alcuni tra i suoi servitori, di un nido di briganti situato sui monti della Sicilia e chiamato "Birbante Rocca". L'autore affronta i problemi posti da questo toponimo fittizio, poco rispondente alle regole morfosintattiche dell'italiano, dove si avrebbe semmai "Rocca Birbante". Alla sua genesi possono aver concorso diversi fattori metrici e strutturali: tra questi ultimi, soprattutto il parallelismo con toponimi inglesi quali quelli ben noti a Mickiewicz in particolare dalle opere di Walter Scott (Halidon Hill, Nightmare Abbey etc.).; One of characters in Mickiewicz's Pan Tadeusz, the Earl (a courageous man, but also a boaster) uses to tell about a brave deed of his: once in Sicily he conquered, with his own servants, a burglars' shelter named "Birbante Rocca" (Burglar's Castle or Rock). The author tackles the linguistic problems concerning the genesis of this pseudo-Italian place-name (in Italian it would be rather "Rocca Birbante"). The structure of this name could derive by way of structural borrowing from such English place-names as those well known to Mickiewicz for instance from Walter Scott's works (Halidon Hill, Nightmare Abbey and so on).

L'autore esamina diverse teorie sul rapporto tra latino e polacco nella vita culturale; egli ritiene consistenti le prove a favore dell'idea secondo la quale il latino nel periodo in esame (e nei decenni successivi) non fu un ostacolo, ma un fattore di sviluppo per la letteratura in polacco, come è confermato dalla fioritura del cosiddetto "Secolo d'Oro".; The author tries to draw a sketch of the linguistic situation of Poland in XV-XVI centuries: Latin was widely in use as a vehicular language, what's not surprising in such a multiethnic state. The author adheres to the opinion according to which Latin was no obstacle to the development of vernacular literature, but on the contrary fostered it, what is confirmed by the flourishing of Polish literature during the so-called "Golden Century".

Title: Sillaba aperta. Spigolature in margine ad un vecchio problema. Authors: Caldarelli, Raffaele Abstract: The Open Syllable: Gleaning on an Old Problem. In the first part of the article, the author offers a short examination of some general problems relating to the open syllable principle, which in his opinion recalls a drift in the Sapirian sense and thus must be taken as a tendency rather than a rule. Afterwards, the author examines whether the phenomenology of the syllable is as important for the history of the Slavonic languages as Bern tejn maintains. Close-knit analysis encourages us to discard this possibility since, in Slavonic linguistic history, the open syllable structure is neither durable nor deeply bound up with the morphologic structure. Finally, the author contrasts the instability of the open syllable structure in Slavonic languages with the stability of the same structural feature in Polynesian languages. He argues that morphological factors are decisive in maintaining the open syllable structure (as is the case with Polynesian languages) and, conversely, in discarding it relatively early as far as Slavonic languages are concerned.

Title: Języki, alfabety, tożsamość: rozważania o chrystianizacji Słowian Authors: Caldarelli, Raffaele Abstract: The glagolitic alphabet aims at defending a cultural identity endangered by the political situation existing in IXth century Europe; and the history of the cyrillic alphabet is also widely determined by the same factor, i.e. the defense of an identity. But how are we to conceive such an identity in medieval Europe? The author examines this question, stressing the differences between the medieval concept of ethnic identity (which is the identity of an ethnically determined Christian community, in the contest of a universal power) and the modern one. After shortly discussing some features of the Slavic alphabets (including the writing systems based on the Latin letters), the author proceeds with examining the Slavic identity as seen by the other european peoples in the Middle Ages. This perception is more positive in the Byzantium Commonwealth, whereas in central Europe the situation is more complex, and the Slav is often perceived as an enemy. After an appreciation of some lexical data, first of all from Ilarion s works, as possible hints of the ideas of nation and people then common among the Slavs, the author briefly addresses the relation between the history of the Slavs and the process of formation of the european identity as a whole.
